Spring is a very important time according to Chinese medicine. It’s the time of growth, change and of unfolding, and it pertains to the Wood Element. Wood is about growth, but it also needs balance. It’s related to the Liver and Gallbladder organs, as well as to the color green.
How can you have your best, most balanced spring possible? This is a great time of year for a gentle detox. I don’t recommend any type of fast, but rather focus on clean eating: avoiding processed foods, increasing your intake of greens, and reducing animal products and drinking green or white tea. Also, gentle exercise is highly beneficial to keep your tendons, ligaments and muscles functioning smoothly, as well as for balancing the expanding energy during the spring.
